    If you're looking for work as a team player to support the Executive Director. Living Grace Homes have an opening for someone who is results-oriented and deeply passionate about the well-being of young mothers in the Las Vegas Valley. A Non-Profit in Henderson, NV is seeking a Respite House Parent to support the Program and Daily Operations of Living Grace Homes. Living Grace homes is A Faith-Based Home, structured on Christian Principles of Corporal Acts of Mercy, however, there is no religious test for any staff or resident. 


    Living Grace Homes was formed in 2007 and helps support the young women ages 14-24 of the Las Vegas Valley that find themselves pregnant and homeless. We help them grow from dependency to empowered mothers.


    This is a part-time position that supports our House Parents. This position allows the house parent two nights to relax and be off-site. We have two locations, and the Respite House Parent would provide support from 8 PM to 8 AM for 2 nights at both locations for a total of 4 overnight postings.


    Requirement


    • Basic computer skills are a must. Using Microsoft 365: Outlook, Office Suite, interacting on Teams, sharing files, entering data into Expecting Data.
    • Must have a valid Nevada driver's license, with a clean driving record.
    • Must be willing to complete and pass an in-depth background check, including fingerprinting and TB Testing.

    The following are some general guidelines of expectation for the position of House Parents at our Sequoia Location


    • Supervising parenting women most generally between the age 14-24, but could be older
    • Maintaining and modeling a peaceful, respectful, understanding, and caring environment. Extending and modeling genuine and unconditional acceptance of each resident and their situations.
    • Being present in the downstairs living area, especially during times of breakfast or dinner for oversight. Being present and participating in “family style” dinners.
    • Being Present in the home in case of emergency overnight.

    Duties Upon arrival:


    • Make sure the kitchen and living area is straightened and clean before 10 PM Lights Out.
    • Ensure the dishwasher is loaded or unloaded and ran depending on the situation
    • Account for Cell Phones and Tablets from residents. Phones and Tablets are not to be a major part of a resident’s entertainment. They should be interacting with the children and progress-related activities. Full Time House Parent will leave a list of residents in possession of devices based on appointments, outings, schooling, and positive reward
    • Make sure House Garbage from Kitchen and Bathrooms are taken out nightly. Garbage Cans are put out on the curb on the correct day each week and brought in the following morning
    • Helping residents make meal plans, shopping lists, and grocery shopping life skills.
    • Teaching by Modeling good manners
    • Teaching basic life skills which could include but are not limited to manners, etiquette, cooking and kitchen responsibilities, cleanliness, chores, language and interacting with others, etc
    • Daily inspection of residents’ rooms and signing off on chores being completed.
    • Enforcing rules outlined in Resident Manual
    • Conflict resolution between residents
    • Assisting and supervising all aspects of the home and housekeeping needs and assignments
    • Transporting of residents as needed for delivery of late appointments
    • Listening
    • "Parenting" offers support and understanding as they grow, emotionally and intellectually.
    • Respite House Parents at Living Grace Home fulfill the responsibilities of parents of up to 4 moms and their children from varying backgrounds with various emotional problems. Seeking the assistance of the Case Manager when a problem arises will facilitate getting the resident the help they need.
    • The position requires a small amount of administrative work, such as maintaining a shared calendar, completing inventory and purchase request forms, and doing logs or incident reports when there is an issue with a resident. Weekly reports on activity. At the end of each month, House Mothers log all of the appointments and outings that residents were transported to. Enter this information into Expecting Data.
    • Overseeing and coordinating that each resident is responsible for keeping her area clean, doing her assigned chores on assigned days, and preparing dinners on assigned dinner nights. Because there are wide variations in each resident’s skills in many areas, it is the responsibility of the House Mother to not only supervise but to teach.
    • Complete continuing education courses, Examples include, First- Aid, Infant CPR, and other job-related courses that enrich the position of Respite House Parent.

    Modeling, lovingly, and sharing the appropriate care of an infant is crucial to the well-being of both the mom and the baby.


    Respite House Parents report to the Executive Director.

    At Living Grace Homes we strive to provide the finest staff available for residents, counseling to resident and family when appropriate, infants/children, and services to its community.


    Qualifications

    • No one may serve as a staff member working with children who have been convicted for any felony classified as an offense against the person or family, of public indecency or of violation of any controlled substance law or act, or of any misdemeanor classified as an offense against the person or family or of public indecency, unless the Executive Director has ruled that proof of rehabilitation has been established.
    • Each employee shall submit a statement to the Executive Director providing information concerning any felony and/or misdemeanor convictions within the preceding 10 years and any pending criminal charges.
    • Criminal and Child Abuse checks for all staff members will be reevaluated and assessed every 3 years.
    • The personal qualifications of employees shall be verified. Seven references; 3 personal and 4 professional references will be required.  
    • Must have graduated from an accredited college or university
    • Must abide by the Code of Ethics from The Board of Examiners for Social Workers.
    • It is a requirement that an agency staff person will be honest, upfront, timely, self-starter, motivated, and committed to the Agency's Mission Statement

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • New Intake calls when assigned. 
    • Provide residents with assessment and counseling which includes talking about options for parenting. 
    • Assisting residents in developing a case plan and a transition plan. 
    • Provide services in line with the case plan while maintaining solid and appropriate boundaries.  The case worker's responsibility to the residents is to encourage them in making positive decisions for their future.  This may include referrals to community resources to assist the residents to expand their knowledge of services available to them. The agency’s ultimate goal for the residents is for them to be able to stand on their own feet and make decisions that are positive for their family.
    • Making sure that all paperwork is in place and is correct to the best of one's ability to include but not limited to assisting the residents in the completion of documents for all community resources available. 
    • Manage and maintain the HMIS system
    • Conduct regular updates on services. 
    • Provide resources for residents for the birth, after care of both themselves and the baby. 
    • Provide resources for residents to be prepared to parent.
    • Transport residents when necessary.  Ie: doctor appointments, welfare appointments, and other appointments as necessary
    • Travel to clients' homes, hospital, or other community resources making referrals for intake assessment when necessary
    • If a resident is considering adoption, provide resources for the resident to speak to an adoption specialist. 
    • Documentation for ALL assigned client files.   Case/social worker must remember that documentation must be clear, concise and must tell the story of each situation.
    • Each employee is to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner and to uphold the integrity of the person and the agency.
    • To be a team player.  Living Grace Home is a small program so we all have to pitch in and help.  Each employee is expected to be able to perform the entire task in the office.  I.e. filing, making files and etc.
    • It is crucial for a staff case/social worker to be committed to protecting his/her own social work license but also the agency license, if appropriate.
    • It is very important to maintain a professional relationship with all residents.  An unprofessional relationship could be misunderstood by clients as coercive or manipulative. 
    • Adhere to program standards, procedures and budget
    • To dress in an appropriate manner especially when appearing in public representing the Agency.  Appropriately meaning “a business-like appearance.”
    • Maintain client and agency confidentiality.
    • To perform any and all duties requested by the supervisor
    • It is the responsibility of the employee to read and be up to date on the agency's Policies and Procedures. 
    • Attend and participate in all staff meetings as requested by the immediate supervisor.
    • Participate in marketing activities as requested or needed.

    This is a position that is Salary based and has two parts, Part one is 40 hours that are paid for Business operational daytime hours. Part two is 5 nights of on-call support that may be needed overnight. A room will be provided for this position.
